As part of the InnoTrans trade fair, Stadler Pankow, together with DB Regio and the Rail Public Transport Association for the South Rhineland-Palatinate, which represents the authorities responsible for the Rhineland-Palatinate regional railway, is presented the. This is the first vehicle in the series for DB Regio, with a total of 28 vehicles ordered. As of December 2014, the trains will form the backbone of the new, state-wide RE network in the Rhineland-Palatinate.
Each vehicle has 249 seats in second class and 21 seats in first class. The FLIRT has high drive performance and achieves a maximum speed of 160 km/h. A total of 28 trains have been ordered from Stadler Pankow.
