Adif has awarded Thales a EUR 19.5 million contract for the deployment of a traffic control system and the improvement of security and communications on the 57.4 km Algeciras-Gaucín section in Spain. The project will be completed in 18 months.
As a result, line capacity and traffic flow consistency will be achieved, in addition to improvements in security and communications. Further integration into the Mediterranean Corridor could be achieved as a result of this project, given that it adapts the facilities to the requirements of electrified lines, as well as to the possible introduction of three rails.
