Thales Spain and Siemens Rail Automation were awarded by ADIF Alta Velocidad, the Spanish railway infrastructure operator, a contract for the adaptation of the signalling, train protection systems, telecommunications and centralised traffic control systems for the duplication of the Río Duero-Valladolid Campo Grande section track. The value of the contract, which includes the subsequent maintenance for 3 years, is 17.8 million euros.
Siemens will be responsible for the modification and extension of the Valladolid high-speed interlocking systems and upgrading both the conventional and high-speed CTCs. Thales will be in charge of extending and adapting the existing level 1 and level 2 ERTMS system, supplying and installing the falling objects detector systems, modifying the static speed profile and modernising the conventional Valladolid Station interlocking systems.
The project will increase the capacity of the high-speed line and adapt it to the requirements of new connections to Burgos and León.
