Kharkiv Metro Company launched a tender for the extension of the existing metro line and the acquisition of new rolling stock. Tendering for the contracts is expected to begin in the Q4 of 2017.
The tender calls for the extension of the existing metro line by 3.5 km and construction of 2 metro stations, including a metro wagon depot and rail connection, the purchase of needed rolling stock and FIDIC Engineer and procurement and implementation support consultant.
The total value of the project is EUR 320 million, of which the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and European Investment Bank will provide EUR 160 million each.
The project will address key challenges in the public transport infrastructure development of the city of Kharkiv, including improving access to clean urban transport and increasing the capacity and efficiency of public transport services.
The city’s metro system consists in 3 lines with a total length of 37.6 km and 30 stations.
