The new Alpine line will cost CHF 300 million (EUR 289 million) less because drilling and concrete works for Gothard base tunnel costs were less that expected.
This situation will reduce the cost of the project from CHF 24 billion (EUR 23.1 billion) to CHF 23-23.5 billion (EUR 22.1-22.6 billion). Gothard base tunnel will be launched in December 2016, and Ceneri base tunnel in december 2019.
