Every year, Liebherr performs the Summer Maintenance of HVAC systems for SWEG’s Talent 3 trains.
Liebherr-Transportation Systems has successfully serviced the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in Bombardier’s [now manufactured by CAF] electric trains of the Talent 3 type.
The 3- and 4-car multiple units are operated by SWEG Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH in Offenburg (Germany).
From April to June 2024, a total of 43 passenger- and 24 driver’s compartment air-conditioning systems were inspected and overhauled as part of the so-called “Summer Maintenance” to ensure a reliable and comfortable indoor climate in the trains – and thus brave hot summer temperatures.
The regular check of the cooling cycle is an annual and legally prescribed inspection and an essential part of Liebherr’s customer service package.
Qualified service technicians carry out a careful visual inspection of the HVAC units including refrigeration components.
They clean for example the condensers, cover seals and replace refrigerants or conspicuous components and thus make sure that the air-conditioning systems perform flawlessly.
The CAF Talent 3 is a family of railcars designed by Bombardier Transportation and produced by CAF.
The first unit was supposed to come into service in 2019, but the first passenger runs didn’t begin until November 2020.
Alstom sold the design rights to the Talent 3 to CAF in November 2021 to comply with a directive from the European Commission during its takeover of Bombardier.
