Stadler has announced that will invest EUR 70 million to expand its Berlin Pankow rolling stock plant. The project will be completed by 2020. The plan was unveiled during a visit from the Mayor of Berlin, Michael Müller, on February 12.
“The investment is a clear commitment to our location in Berlin. The plant in Pankow has developed excellently and has grown to become the second largest location in our corporate group. We are particularly pleased that with the IK and the new S-Bahn Berlin we can develop and build Berlin-based vehicles for Berlin, ” Peter Spuhler, President of the Board of Directors, said.
Depending on the future order intake, the construction project plans to open additional space in several stages. Among other things, a new production hall is planned, as well as a logistics center and the creation of additional office space and a modern canteen for the employees.
“We are delighted to be able to invest in the future of the new construction project in securing future large-scale projects and securing Berlin as a location. The goal of the investment is to optimize the production conditions and modernize the infrastructure at our Berlin location “, said Jure Mikolčić, CEO of Stadler Pankow GmbH.
