French government has published an order in the Official Journal to build CDG Express, the new high speed rail link connecting Charles de Gaulle airport and central Paris. The government aims to have the CDG Express project completed by 2024 in time for Olympic Games 2024 and World Expo 2025.
The decree sets out the procedures for designating the operators, terms of financing, construction and operation of the CDG Express rail link and tariff rules specific to it.
The State granted the majority concession rights to design, finance, build, operate and maintain the future CDG Express line to a subsidiary of SNCF Network and Aéroports de Paris (ADP).
According to the decree, the minority portion of the shared capital of the project company might be open for a third parties.
According to the announcement, the concession company will be able to entrust some project management works directly to SNCF Network, SNCF Mobility and Aéroports de Paris.
After many years of hesitation, France’s government has launched a EUR1.7-billion (USD 2.3 billion) project to link Paris to its main international airport, Charles de Gaulle, with an express train that will go into operation in a decade’s time.
