XRail Group was awarded a 7-year contract to deliver corrective and preventive maintenance services for the signalling systems and technical buildings of the Haramain high-speed railway.
Subcontracted by Siemens, the company will also provide non-stop support and service as part of this contract, with its teams across six maintenance centres situated along the entire 453-km railway line.
The Haramain HSR is equipped with the ERTMS Level 2 which ensures trains to runt at speeds of up to 300 km/h, reducing travel time by 45% between Mecca and Medina, in comparison with alternative means of transport.
The railway line serves and connect with every major populated urban centre in Saudi Arabia.
The railway line served by five stations will meet passenger transport demand which is expected to reach 135 million passengers per year, from 60 million.
