Serbia holds negociations with RZD International for carrying out a 200 million euros reconstruction of the Belgrade-Nis railway line, Transport minister Zorana Mihajlovic announced. The line connects the capital with the underdeveloped southern part of the country.
Serbian state-owned railway operator Zeleznice Srbije and RZD International signed in July a contract worth $338 million for works on the second track on Stara Pazova-Novi Sad railway section, which will be financed by a Russian loan.
In 2008 Russia lent Serbia $ 800 million for the modernisation of its railways, and the loan should be repaid by December 2017. However, the Serbian Transport minister said she would insist on rescheduling the loan, adding that Serbia had not used any part of it until 2013.
