Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced that the following three years would see more than 400 km of railways overhauled, new railway tracks built, and the Serbian Railways public enterprise reformed soon. She pointed out that the government would devote particular attention to transport development.
Mihajlovic said that a feasibility study would be carried out for a project to build a railway from Belgrade to Budapest together with partners from China, adding that the project was of great strategic importance to Serbia. She said that the current railway projects in Serbia total more than EUR 1.2B and that disbursement of loans approved by the Czech Republic, Russia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and others would be speeded up.
