This year, RZD will invest RUB 10.4 billion (149.5 million euros) in the infrastructure development project at the Tobolsk – Surgut section. Permanent assets with a total value of RUB 6.3 billion (90.5 million euros) including 42.7 km of secondary main tracks within 5 stretches are expected to be put into operation.
The project aims to ensure the transport of crude hydrocarbons from the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanti-Mansi autonomous areas by expanding the capacity of the Tobolsk – Surgut section to 66 train pairs per day (40 million tonnes per year) by 2016.
