The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) opened a case against FGK and RZD on suspicion of abusing dominance. Following several petitions, FAS investigates a charge of fixing monopolistically high prices for the services of mineral and construction freight transport in open-box cars on domestic routes.
According to FAS, in 1 January – 1 August 2016, the costs charged by FGK for domestic transportation of mineral and construction cargo in open-box cars increased by up to 38%. At the same time, the rates for offering cars to particular consignors in June 2015 – June 2016 increased by 2.2-2.5 times. The investigation by FAS seeks to ascertain to what extent such a growth is justified.
