According to preliminary data, in January-August, freight handling by RZD increased by 2.8% year-on-year to 937.3 million tonnes. The freight turnover increased by 6.6% to 1.846 trillion tonne-km, while the freight turnover adjusted for empty runs grew by 6.3% to 2.354 trillion tonne-km.
Coal loading in the first nine months grew by 9.3% to 262.96 million tonnes, handling of oil and petroleum products by 0.2% to 175.2 million tonnes, handling of ferrous metals by 1.2% to 53.5 million tonnes, handling of ferrous scrap by 4.1% to 11.5 million tonnes, handling of chemical and mineral fertilizers by 7.9% to 42.5 million tonnes, handling of timber cargoes by 3.8% to 33.4 million tonnes, grain handling by 12.3% to 14.6 million tonnes, handling of chemicals and soda by 2.1% to 19.3 million tonnes, handling of industrial raw products and molding materials by 5.6% to 27.4 million tonnes.
In September, freight handling grew by 1.8% year-on-year to 103.8 million tonnes, the freight turnover increased by 4.2% to 203.3 billion tariff tonne-kilometers, and the freight turnover adjusted for empty runs also grew by 4.2% to 258.8 billion.
