In January-May 2016, RZD’s network loaded 498.2 mln t, up 1.3%, year-on-year, the company’s press center announced.
Shipment of coal increased to 136.5 mln t (+3.9%), of chemical and mineral fertilisers to 22.2 mln t (+4.1%); of timber to 18.3 mln t (+6.9%); of grain to 7.6 mln t (+12%); of construction materials to 55 mln t (+21.3%); and of non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock to 8.6 mln t (+3.8%).
Transport of coke, crude and oil products, ferrous metals and ferrous metal scrap, cement, industrial feedstock and moulded materials declined in the same period.
Freight turnover for the first five months totaled 951.6 billion tariff ton-km (+3.1%).
In May 2016, loading totaled 102.9 mln t (+3.1%), while freight turnover increased by 3% to 195.5 billion tariff ton-km.
