The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bahn appoints Richard Lutz as new Chief Executive Officer of the German state-owned rail operator, until March 2022. At the same time, the Supervisory Board also drew up the forthcoming re-appointments of the Management Board members Berthold Huber (Passenger Transport) and Ronald Pofalla (Infrastructure). Both will also receive a five-year contract, which runs until March 2022.
Richard Lutz would provide the “needed continuity” to guide the rail operator at a time when it is facing rapid changes, chairman of the board Utz-Hellmuth Felcht said in a statement.
In 1994, Lutz joined Deutsche Bahn AG, where he held various positions before taking over Corporate Controlling in 2003.
Until his recent appointment as CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Richard Lutz has been the Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn responsible for Finance and Controlling April 2010.
As of August 2015, international business units DB Arriva and DB Schenker Logistics, along with the Procurement and IT units, were also assigned to the Finance Division, which Richard Lutz managed.
In addition to the departments “Chairman”, “Passenger Transport” (including DB Arriva), “Infrastructure” as well as “Personnel & Law”, the departments “Digitization & Technology” and “Freight Transport & Logistics” were established.
