Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority, California, issued the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the alignment design-build project for the USD 1.5 billion LRT contract. Under the contract, the winner will construct the 19.8 km LRT extension and 6 stations from Glendora to Montclair.
The RFQ is the first of a two – step, competitive process that will result in a short-list of the most qualified teams to compete for the work.
The RFQ requires interested companies to detail their qualifications to complete all elements of the light rail project, experience completing similar projects, credentials of their key personnel, a staffing plan and their expected main subcontractors.
They must also demonstrate financial and legal qualifications to conduct the work.
Statements of Qualifications in response to the RFQ are due in January 2018 and the shortlisted companies will receive the Request for Proposals to be released in spring 2018.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
The project estimate was updated in 2017 to USD 1.476 billion (USD 1.4 billion in Los Angeles County and USD 70 million to extend the line from Claremont to Montclair) from the earlier estimate of USD 1.2 billion. The project is being built in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties and will be funded locally.
Under this project, the authority awarded W.A. Rasic Construction Company a USD 2.6 million contract for utility relocation design- bid-build contract.
