During January-July 2017, a total of 632.3 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure of RZD, up 9.2% compared to January-July 2016. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 57.9 million (-0.3%). Suburban passengers totalled 574.4 million, an increase of 10.2%.
Passenger turnover on the network of RZD since the beginning of 2017 decreased by 1.8% to 69 billion passenger-km. Suburban passenger turnover was 18.1 billion passenger-km, an increase of 2.9%, while long-distance passenger turnover fell to 50.9 billion passenger-km, a decline of 3.4%.
In the seven months to the end of July 2017, 58,7 million passengers travelled on the Moscow Central Ring, including almost 8.8 million passengers in July 2017 who used the Lastochka electric trains on the MCR.
The number of passengers on the high-speed Sapsan trains exceeded the half a million mark for the first time in one month and amounted to 511,800 passengers in July 2017, an increase of 6.5%. Since the beginning of the year, Sapsan trains have transported more than 2.8 million passengers, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2016.
More than 102.3 million passengers were transported in July, up 7.4% from the same month in 2016. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 89.7 million, an increase of 8.6%, while long-distance passengers fell to 12.6 million, a decline of 0.2%.
