RATP and Nokia successfully completed the first world-test trial of 4G LTE technology on Line 14 of Paris Metro.
The 4G LTE system was installed on one line’s train and runs all of its operational communications equipment.
The test showed the capacity of a single LTE network to replace Wi-Fi networks and in the same time to manage data transmissions from multiple applications comprising the simulation of train control (CBTC), the video systems in trains and on platforms, operation voice communication, the information for passengers.
This test represents a significant contribution to initiate the pre-standardisation work for 4G LTE technology deployment in transport system.
Under its 4G LTE technology, Nokia has provided the expertise to the project management and network optimization, including network design, radio planning, a test bench in its laboratory dedicated to transport system, simulation performance and optimize the radio coverage and installation with RATP.
