The Danish Road Directorate has appointed Rambøll to explore possible alignments of the upcoming high-speed rail across the Vejle Fjord. The connection of the Vejle Fjord is a cornerstone of Togfonden DK, which means that the majority of railway electrification and time model being introduced. This means that in the future the Danes can settle for just an hour’s travel time between Esbjerg Odense, Aalborg Aarhus, Aarhus and Odense Odense-Copenhagen – in modern, climate-friendly electric trains.
The future connection across Vejle Fjord will reduce the travel time for trains with 8-9 minutes and must be established as a high-speed railway to 250 km/h.
In October 2014 Vejdirektoratet selected Rambøll to perform conceptual design in connection with the EIA (the Public Consultation Agency) of the new railway bridge over the Vejle Fjord. Based on the responses received EIA chose the Danish Road Directorate in May 2015 to offer the task of conceptual design of a tunnel alternative.
Rambøll is responsible for the technical studies and landscape assessments for a tunnel and three bridges alternatives that underlie an impact assessment including natural and environmental conditions, space interventions, landscape and noise.
