Sustainable mobility, one of the greatest challenges the world is facing today, should undoubtedly approach the problem of a more efficient transport system.
The awareness of the railway transport role as a key element to sustainable development and to reducing the negative impact of climate change has significantly increased over the past years among the society, citizens and decision makers.
Transport operators, infrastructure managers, all railway players and more specifically, the rail industry, have to confirm that rail transport is truly the strongest solution to the above-mentioned challenges.
Looking back at the year that comes to an end and to all projects initiated or announced around the globe – from high-speed and conventional lines, new rolling stock procurement, new metro, tram or light rail lines, company mergers, logistics solutions, research and innovation projects, efficient real-time passenger information systems, up to the advance of digitalisation solutions for transport services – we notice, with joy one might say, that the rail industry takes the lead in supporting sustainable mobility.
Rail transport can, without a doubt, become the top viable and competitive choice in supporting the reinforcement of the European Union’s economy.
A solid, sustainable transport system is essentially energy-efficient, and the rail products and services certainly make this system a resilient one!
Through the research and innovation efforts, customized solutions, tailored to the needs and demands of every type of customer, rail industry has proved us once again, during the entire year that approaches the end, that it can make the difference towards our ultimate goal: an environmentally-friendly, integrated and rapid transport system in the European Union.
The decision makers from both the European Union and each Member State have to struggle more, through massive investments in the rail transport system, to benefit from the rail industry alternatives which, in the end, will help them implement sustainable mobility!
And then it would no longer be one of the greatest challenges the world is facing today!
