Serbian rail freight operator Srbija Kargo plans to start operating a regular freight service connecting Serbia to Slovenia beginning from 1 March. The service, named Sava Expres, will reduce the transit time for the transport of cargo between the two countries. Sava Expres will improve the connection between Serbia and EU member states, the managing director of Srbija Kargo, Dusan Garibovic, said.
Srbija Kargo plans to launch similar services to other countries in the region in the future, such as Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece, he added. The Serbian company signed a memorandum of understanding with Macedonia’s Makedonski Zeleznici Transport, Slovenia’s SZ Cargo, Croatia’s HZ Cargo, Montenegro’s Montecargo as well as Bosnia’s Zeljeznice Republike Srpske and JP ZFBIH at an event in Belgrade. Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will cooperate in the improvement of service quality.
