Rail Baltica digital contract awarded

RB Rail AS awarded Bentley Systems International a contract to deploy and set up a cloud-based Common Data Environment (CDE) to be used during the design, construction and operational phase of the railway line.
EUR 1.2 million is the value of the five-year contract that includes software development, implementation and maintenance as well as license fees and training of users. The funding is allocated from the CEF budget.
The contract consists of cloud-based CDE configuration, deployment and setup, test phase and training of users, as well as it encloses an optional CDE extension of the solution’s functionality if that is required for the client.
In addition, Bentley Systems will ensure licensing, support and maintenance of the system for the Rail Baltica global project. It is estimated that at the peak of the Rail Baltica construction activities, the number of daily users of the system will rise up to 370, exchanging and updating the technical project documentation including design models, drawings and other technical information. The system will meet the highest IT security standards to ensure secure and fast exchange of technical documentation and information for all involved parties.
“Using BIM in a complex rail project as Rail Baltica will help ensure effective collaboration between people, processes and technology, helping to minimize rework, delays and unexpected costs”, Timo Riihimäki, CEO of RB Rail AS, said.
Bentley Systems International, Civilpoint, Graitec – Sudop Brno – PSS Graitec consortium, Asite Solutions, and the partnership formed by DCS Finland Oy and Pirkanmaan Mittauspalvelu are the five bidders that submitted their offer for this tender. The proposal made by Bentley Systems was the most advantageous economically offer.
