Poland to launch EUR 3.5 billion tenders by 2018

Poland’s railway infrastructure manager PKP PLK hopes to announce tenders worth approx. PLN 5 billion (EUR 1.15 billion) by the end of 2017 and approx. PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.35 billion) next year, CEO Ireneusz Merchel said. Two thirds of the 2018 tenders will probably also be signed next year, he added. PKP PLK presently has over PLN 13 billion (EUR 3 billion) “in tender procedures,” according to the manager.
The company wants to sign a total of PLN 20 billion (EUR 4.7 billion) in contracts under Poland’s PLN 66 billion (EUR 15.5 billion) National Railway Program (KPK), having signed PLN 14 billion (EUR 3.3 billion) year-to-date, the CEO declared. The 2017 sum would push the total value of concluded KPK contracts in the program to PLN 31 billion (EUR 7.2 billion).
Among the most important projects planned by the company includes the construction of a cross tunnel in Łódź, the modernisation of the diameter route line in Warsaw, works on line 7 of Warsaw – Lublin section, modernization of Kraków Główny Towarowy – Kraków Rudzice route, as well as Sochaczew – Swarzędz section of E-20 line.
