PKP PLK to build a new station on Central Mainline

pkpPolish rail infrastructure manager PKP PLK has announced a tender for the design and construction of a new station in in Pilichowice, on Central Mainline (Centralna Magistrala Kolejowa – CMK).
The main objective of the construction of the station in Pilichowice is to increase the capacity of Central Railway, allowing a greater number of trains from Warsaw to Katowice, Krakow and Wroclaw and, in the future, also to Kielce, after the construction of Włoszczowa – Czarnca section.
Within the project, will be constructed a railway traffic control center that will be controlled from Opoczno Południe station on the CMK trunk line.
The rail station construction is part of the “Modernisation of railway line No. 4, phase II” project which aims to increase the train speed at 200-230 km/h. The company estimates that the project will be completed in November 2017.
