PKP CARGO expands terminal in Poland

PKP Cargo terminalPKP CARGO started expansion of the container terminal in Poznań Franowo.After completion of the work, its capacity will be increased by nearly 40%. The investment will be completed in December 2015, and in the future, the terminal will be part of the Logistics Centre in Poznań, providing comprehensive logistics services.
The terminal in Poznań Franowo will gain a new manoeuvring and storage area of 8.2 thousand square meters.This will increase the storage capacity in Franowo from the current 1,280 TEUs to almost 1,800 TEUs.
Half of the expansion cost will be financed from EU funds.The total value of the net investment amounts to PLN 6.8 million (EUR 1.66 million).
”The transport of containers stands out from other groups of goods transported by rail. In the first quarter of 2015, the intermodal rail freight in Poland grew at double-digit rates. We expect this to be a long-term trend. Hence our investments in this market segment.The terminal in Franowo is one of our most important investments”, Member of the Management Board in charge of Commerce at PKP CARGO Jacek Neska said.
The terminal in Franowo is one of the key investments of PKP Cargo.It is located in a strategic position – there are two main European transport corridors intersecting near Poznań.
