ÖBB will again be offering more than 600 apprenticeship training places across Austria for September 2025. In order to get even more young people interested in a top apprenticeship with the railway, ÖBB has come up with a number of ideas: a new advertising campaign is in the starting blocks and the range of training courses is being expanded to include an apprenticeship as a real estate agent. ÖBB is thus offering interested parties a selection of 26 technical and commercial apprenticeships on lehre.oebb.at.

This reflects the diversity of our company. With the new apprentice campaign, we are showing that our apprentices make a major contribution to our company and thus to future issues such as sustainability, climate protection and digitalization,” says Silvia Angelo, Board Member of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG.
New apprenticeship program
ÖBB is constantly developing its training offer. From the start of the new training year in September 2025, the company will be offering a new apprenticeship in real estate management.
In addition to its core business, mobility, ÖBB is also one of the largest property managers and developers in Austria. That is why there is a need for professionals in this area too, and the newly trained apprentices will find a wide range of activities in the company.
New ÖBB apprenticeship
In order to attract the skilled workers of the future to the railways, ÖBB has initiated a new apprenticeship campaign. The idea behind it is to show that everything is a little bit bigger at ÖBB. ÖBB not only makes a significant contribution to Austria’s mobility and future, but is also one of the largest employers. They have a 5,000-kilometer route network and more than 1,000 train stations and offer a variety of career opportunities for every phase of life.
With the new campaign, the company shows potential apprentices that an apprenticeship at ÖBB can be the next step in a varied training program with good job prospects and a fair salary. Throughout the entire campaign, ÖBB apprentices are portrayed in an oversized manner because they achieve great things with their work. A special highlight are the spectacularly staged short videos for the digital channels, true to the motto: big, bigger, ÖBB.
The campaign starts on October 22, 2024 and will be seen in various formats in print media, online, on social media channels and on ÖBB advertising spaces at train stations.
26 apprenticeships and many benefits
The training at ÖBB is of the highest quality and has received numerous national and international awards. A total of 26 technical and commercial training courses are offered. These include “green” apprenticeships such as electrical engineering – energy technology and refrigeration technology, or the digital apprenticeship in application development coding, but also rail travel and mobility services, automotive technology and freight forwarding. A fair salary, good job opportunities and free travel on ÖBB trains throughout Austria as well as the option of an “apprenticeship and high school diploma” round off the training offer.
