Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has invited tenders to apply for a contract to build a pair of metro tunnels under Sydney Harbour. Consortia invited to bid for the works include Ferrovial, Acciona and BAM Joint Venture, and John Holland, CPB and Ghella Joint Venture. The contract is expected to be awarded around mid-2017.
Once awarded, the consortium will undertake the tunnelling and station excavations for Sydney Metro City & Southwest project. Tunnelling will stretch from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour and across CBD.
“We’re cracking on with delivering this mega project for Sydney and the hive of construction activity is continuing in the North West,” Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said.
