On February 28, Polish commuter rail operator Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna and Newag signed a contract for the supply of 14-three car Impuls 2 EMUs and will offer maintenance services for 12 years.
Under the PLN 267 million (EUR 61.8 million) contract, Newag will start the delivery of the first 4 vehicles in September 2018.
PLN 182 million (EUR 42 million) was the amount provided through the European funds. The new trains will operate on company’s rail routes to Skierniewic, Sieradza, Kutna and Łowicza. Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna is operating rail passenger services between the city of Łódź and surrounding towns in the Łódź Voivodeship.
“The acquisition of the trains will be financed through the Regional Operational Programme for Łódzkie Voivodeship 2014-2020,” Janusz Malinowski, Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna Member of the Board said.
The Regional Operational Programme for Łódzkie Voivodeship 2020 has a total budget of EUR 2.65 billion, of which the total EU contribution is EUR 2.25 billion. Under the TO7 – Transport and energy networks, 17.5% will be invested in transport infrastructure.
