US private company Great Lakes Basin Transportation Inc. plans three transport projects to provide new rail, road, and air transport capacity for the Midwest, a region that occupies the northern central part of the USA.
The plan involves the construction of a new railway infrastructure, a new Expressway and a South Suburban Airport for passenger and cargo transport.
For the railway programme, Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc. filed its Application to construct its Great Lakes Basin Railroad with the Surface Transportation Board. “Our application explains the need for this vital project to the STB and the public. The GLBR is the largest single freight railroad project proposed for the Chicago region in over a century. We look forward to working with the STB and other interested parties to move this project forward,” Frank Patton, Founder and Chairman, said.
The STB will announce the procedural schedule for the application and related environmental review in future orders.
