Malaysia’s Rapid Transit Corporation, MRT, awarded four package contracts for the construction of Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line (Line 2). Hap Consortium has won the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of electric trains and depot equipment for this line. The value of the contract is RM 1.62 billion (USD 401.4 million). The consortium comprises Hyundai Rotem, Malaysian company Apex Communications and Posco Engineering (Korea).
The second contract involves the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of signalling and train control system for Line 2, awarded to a consortium comprising Bombardier (Malaysia) and Global Rail. The value of the contract is RM 458 million (USD 113.5 million). Bombardier is the work package contractor for the signalling and train control system for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang line.
Malaysian company IJM Construction won the RM 1.47 billion (USD 364 million) contract for the construction and completion of the 4.6 km viaduct and associated works to Jalan Ipoh North Portal. Also, IJM is the contractor for construction of the elevated line from Maluri Portal to Taman Connaught (as part of Sungai Buloh-Kajang line). It was also nominated as sub-contractor for the construction of 4 elevated stations along the Sungai Buloh-Kajang line.
Sungai Buloh-Kajang line is 51 km and served by 31 stations, providing the connection between Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley region.
For the construction and completion of 2.6 km viaduct guideway contract, Malaysian Resources Corp was announced as the succesful tenderer. Other associated works will be executed by Persiaran APEC in Cyberjaya to Putrajaya Sentral.
The value of the contract is RM 648 million (USD 160.6 million).
