MoU for Belgrade-Budapest line feasibility study

SerbiaZeleznice Srbije, Chinese Railway Corporation and Hungarian State Railways (MAV) have signed a memorandum of understanding concerning a feasibility study for the Belgrade-Budapest railway project, Zeleznice Srbije said.
According to the memorandum, Chinese partners will come up with the feasibility study regarding the construction and modernisation of the railway between Belgrade and Budapest, and that it would be based on a report they would get from Serbia and Hungary.
According to the deadlines already set, the Hungarian and Serbia sides will provide their reports to the Chinese partners no later than April 15, and the Chinese will then create a feasibility study for the entire railroad and present it to a joint working group between China, Hungary and Serbia by the end of June.
Simultaneously with the work on the feasibility study, there will also be work on a preliminary design.
The Hungarian and Serbian sides are responsible for goelogical surveys in their territory, while the Chinese will do geodesic surveys, mapping and other activities related to the work on the preliminary design, the Serbian company said in a statement.
Representatives of Serbia, Hungary and China signed a plan of cooperation in Belgrade last month concerning the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway.
The plan envisages that the feasibility study on the modernisation of the Belgrade-Budapest railway should be completed by the end of June and the works should begin by the end of 2015 and take two years.
