The Moscow Government has approved the new metro line extension project towards Kommunarka, thus, the Sokolnicheskaya Line (the Red Line) will be extended south from Salaryevo station. This line is to be completed by 2020.
“The extension of the line from Salaryevo to Kommunarka is a very important project for New Moscow. There will be 11 more km of the metro line and 4 new metro stations. This line will benefit hundreds of thousands of people who live in New Moscow and help the development of the adjacent areas,” Moscow Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin said.
The new section of the line will mostly be above-ground and will run along the road that connects Solntsevo, Butovo and Vidnoye. The total length of the new section will be 11.6 km, including the metro line itself at 9.4 km and the access tracks – 2.2 more km. There will be 4 more stations. There will be the new transit hubs that will be constructed at Filatov Lug, Prokshino and Stolbovo stations. The transit hubs will have stations, turn around lanes, bus and tram stops.
The first station, Filatov Lug, to be constructed above ground and will have one entrance hall on the east side integrated with a pedestrian overpass.
The Prokshino station will be near the village of the same name and will also have one entrance hall on the west side integrated with a pedestrian overpass.
The Olkhovaya and Stolbovo stations will be underground. Stolbovo will be located near Moscow Ring Road-Kommunarka- Ostafyevo airport motorway. The station will have an interchange tunnel to the eponymous station of the other planned Ulitsa Novatorov-Stolbovo Line.
A new train maintenance facility, Salaryevo, with a 2.2 km long rail yard will be built to maintain Red Line trains and trains on the future Ulitsa Novatorov-Stolbovo Line.
This new metro extension will significantly improve the quality of transport services in rural towns of Moskovsky and Sosenskoye in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative areas.
