The total volume of Moldova’s railway, road, river and air freight traffic grew by 22.5% year-on-year in the first six months of 2017, reaching approx. 6.57 million tonnes. Calculated in freight tonne-kilometres (FTK), traffic increased by 15.3% to 1.98 million FTK during January-June.
Rail freight traffic increased by 32.7% in the first half of the year, to 1.9 million tonnes, while road freight traffic grew by 19.1% to 4.5 million tonnes.
However, in June, the volume of Moldova’s total freight traffic decreased by 6.8% on the month and by 20.8% on the year, to 1.3 million tonnes.
