PKP Polish Railway Lines and Trakcja PRKiI signed a contract for the reconstruction of tracks along with the accompanying infrastructure between Poznań and Rokietnica (18 km), as part of another work stage on Poznań – Szczecin mainline. The value of the contract is PLN 292 million (EUR 68 million), of which PLN 240 million (EUR 56 million) comes from the EU, under the CEF.
Construction works will be started at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2018 and will be completed at the end of 2020.
“The modernization of the railway line from Poznań to Szczecin will bring Wielkopolska and Western Pomerania closer. It is an important for regional and inter-regional connections. PKP Polish Railway Lines already completed the modernisation works on 100 km of lines and the contract signed for Rokietnica – Poznań section will allow the continuation of the project,” sid Arnold Bresch, Member of PKP PLK Board.
Under the project, three stations will be modernised (Poznań Wola, Kiekrz and Rokietnica stations), which will see modern platforms, adapted to people with reduced mobility. At the stations, platform sheds, modern lighting and passenger information system will also be installed.
Safety in rail and road traffic will increase due to the the modernization of 8 rail and road crossings. 13 new and modernized 12 existing engineering structures will be built, including access to platforms, walkways under the tracks.
Poznań – Rokietnica is the first of two sections between Poznań and Wronki, which will be modernized as part of the project “Works on the E59 railway line, on the section Poznań Główny – Szczecin Dąbie”.
On the Poznań Główny – Szczecin Dąbie section, the modernisation works also include the reconstruction of 45 platforms at 21 stations and stops, equipped with a new surface, sheds, new lighting system, passenger information and facilities for people with limited mobility.
