Metrovagonmash has delivered the last of the 27 new diesel trains (DMUs) to Serbia one year before the term mentioned in the contract.
The first 4 DMUs, specially designed for the 1435-mm gauge by Metrovagonmash, were delivered to Serbia at the beginning of 2016 and they already were in operation on Belgrade – Vrshats railway line.
Under the contract the cost of the 27 DMUs is about USD 100 million. The agreement also sets for supply of spare parts worth USD 2.6 million.
The trains are supplied under an additional agreement to the main contract for construction and rehabilitation of Serbian railways which was signed in October 2014 in the presence of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Serbian counterpart, Tomislav Nikolich.
