CAF selected Masats for the supply of electric sliding plug doors for 9 three-car EMUs for Zweckverband Schönbuchbahn (ZVS), which will offer transport services in Stuttgart suburban railway network starting 2021.
Masats will deliver electric sliding plug doors for 6 for each unit, including a door purchase option for 15 additional trains over the next 4 years.
Masats will also offer support for the comprehensive CAF maintenance contract which will cover a period of 19 years.
The sliding plug doors have been tested for minimum durability of 1.5 million cycles, guaranteeing passenger protection with various safety systems such as an optical detection curtain, contact-sensitive rubber edges, engine overuse and encoder position detection. In addition, the antidrag system will prevent passengers from getting stuck or dragged if the door traps any type of very thin object such as a handbag strap.
The doors enhance the thermal and acoustic insulation and also feature special rubber strips for the blind.
The door design is aimed at complying with the demanding UIC 566 standard to resist aerodynamic pressure waves that occur when trains cross each other at 160 km/h.
