In January-October 2014, the volume of cargo transported by rail increased by 1.7% in Latvia, reaching 47 million tons, according to data issued by the Ministry of Transport.
The volume of transit freight via Latvian ports increased by 4.3%, reaching 38.8 million tons. The volume of cargo exported by rail increased by 6.4%, to 2.32 million tons, while the imported cargo grew by 5.4%, to 3.3 million tons. Domestic transport increased by 2.3% to one million tons.
