Latvian passenger railway transport operator, Pasažieru Vilciens, announced, on September 21, that it received technical offers from four rolling stock manufacturers. The tender organized by the Latvian transport operator involves the purchase of 32 new EMUs.
All four bidders are European companies: CAF (Spain), Škoda Vagonka (Czech Republic), Stadler Poland and Talgo (Spain).
Pasažieru Vilciens announced that after the evaluation of the technical documentation, the four companies will be invited to submit a financial offer. The contract will be awarded in 2018 and deliveries of the new EMUs will begin in 2020.
