Kazakhstan’s national railways company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) plans to organize in the middle of June the first presentation to a large number of foreign investors of the Khorgos-Eastern Gate special economic zone, a hub including dry ports, logistics and industrial zones on the Kazakh-Chinese border in the Almaty region.
“The border crossing Altynkol-Khorgos will be a gateway to Central Asia. The project is important not only for the region or Kazakhstan but for the entire transport and logistics system of the Eurasian continent,” said, Askar Mamin, the President of KTZ.
At present, the interest in working in the SEZ has been expressed by many foreign investors, including giants such as Hewlett Packard and Toyota, as well as more than 80 companies from many countries of the world.
In the near future a delegation from Kazakhstan will visit the customs authorities of Dubai, which together with the Kazakh counterparts will work out a unified IT-platform for the rapid customs clearance of goods in transit through the Khorgos-Eastern Gate SEZ.
