Kapsch CarrierCom has been awarded the prestigious Golden Laurel in the “Transport and Communications” category by the Polish Chief Technical Organization (Naczelna Organizacja Techniczna – NOT) for implementing the first GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) network in Poland.
The new railway communication solution introduces the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) to trans-European corridors passing through the Polish territory. It improves traffic safety, increases train traffic density and enables high-speed transport for trains. Besides the technical achievements, the project also serves as evidence of the timely completion of major infrastructure projects with the benefit of EU subsidy funds.
“This award is a great achievement for us. It rewards our efforts and shows that Kapsch is a highly experienced, reliable and innovative partner in delivering state-of-the-art solutions for railway communications in Poland and worldwide”, said Horst Kaufmann, Managing Director at Kapsch CarrierCom Sp. z.o.o. in Poland.
Kapsch was honored for the first implementation of a railway communication system based on GSM-R in Poland. The project enabled the full interoperability of the railway network of the Polish railway infrastructure company PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A across international borders.
The “Laurel of Innovation 2015” is a competition to promote the most innovative products, technologies, services and solutions that have an impact on socio-economic development in Poland.
