Construction work started, on October 6th, for the last train tunnel on the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem High Speed Rail Line.The high speed rail line is currently the largest development project by Israel Railways, costing an estimated 7 billion Israeli Shekel ($2bn). The line will connect Jerusalem with Tel Aviv in about 28 minutes, travelling at about 160km/h. The line will also stop at Ben Gurion Airport Railway Station. It is projected that the first year of operations there will be four trains at each direction during peak hours. The project includes five tunnels (total length of 37km) and eight bridges (10.5km).
The projected date of completion is 2017.
