Transport minister Akihiro Ota (Japan) said that he was able to bring a better understanding of the Shinkansen bullet train technology to Malaysia for a project to connect Kuala Lumpur and Singapore with a high-speed train system.
The high-speed railway, to be built by 2020, will link the Malaysian capital and Singapore in 90 minutes.
Ota said that bidding for the project will likely be held in 2015 or later although no concrete dates were set during his meetings with the Malaysian officials.
