Currently, the progress of works for the Soekarno-Hatta airport railway line has reached 82 percent, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said. The remaining work has difficulty levels because there is a backfilling job for raising railroad that has to be done gradually. Currently 5 km of line remain to be elevated. Furthermore, there is only one track utilized for the airport railway project and work must be done at night to avoid disturbing rail traffic, he explained.
The contractor is targeting to complete the works by November 2017. However, the Minister of Transportation wants the project to be completed more quickly. “The target of the contractor is in November, but I again ask to get a report on how long it will take to get this job done faster,” Budi Karya Sumadi said.
