European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has announced the tender for civil works of Izmir LRT extension by 7.2 km. Under the project, 7 underground stations including electromechanical installations will have to be performed. Tendering for the contract is expected to begin in Q1 2017.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will use an EBRD loan for the Izmir Metro project II and the proposed project has a total estimated cost of EUR 280 million.
In 2014, EBRD announced a co-financing of EUR 38.5 million loan for the significant expansion Izmir urban transport network. The financing was allotted for the acquisition of 85 light-rail transit vehicles.
