Iran decided to implement measures to accelerate the construction of its rail segment as part of Rasht-Astara line, that connect to Azerbaijan’s Astara, Trend reports.
The 2 km rail section will link a freight terminal on Iran’s Astara city border to a bridge that now is under construction and links the two countries. The construction of the 82m birdge was launched in Aprilie, crossing over Astara River.
In July, Azerbaijan Railways completed the excavation work by 85 percent within construction of the railway section from Azerbaijan’s Astara station till the border with Iran. The railway bridge is planned to be commissioned before late 2016.
