Iran Railways (IRIR) and German company Deutsche Bahn International sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in improving software system and implementing railway development projects.
Managing Director of IRIR Mohsen Pour Seyed Aqaei said that by signing the MoU cooperation in the field of improving railway systems softwares and structures will begin in Iran soon.
Through implementation of the MoU and structural changes in IRIR, a basic development will take place in different sections of the Iranian railway network for transportation of passengers and goods.
He underlined that by strengthening IRIR capabilities in the sectors of human sources and revising engineering systems, the company will be able to compete at international level.
Aqaei announced that 83 projects will be executed under the MoU in a period of two years.
Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi said Iran needs integrated railways which connect all corridors to each other and meet the international standards of service.
Iran has also negotiated with China and some European countries on launching high-speed trains in the country, Akhoundi added.
On February 9, heads of railway departments of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia signed three memorandums of understanding on cooperation at the meeting on the North-South transport corridor project.
