Ukraine-based producer of steel pipes and railway wheels Interpipe has rolled out the first order for railways wheels for modern passenger EMUs at the new line for finishing operations, which was commissioned in October 2016. The order was for BDZ. Railway wheels, produced in Dnipro, Ukraine, will be used by EMU trains manufactured by Siemens. The total volume of the supply is 240 wheels.
Railway wheels under the KLW brand have been manufactured in accordance with requirements of the European EN 13262 standard. These 850 mm diameter wheels have been subjected to high-precision web drilling to ensure the installation of the disk braking system elements.
Interpipe has invested USD 16.2 million in the development of its railway product manufacturing facilities. One of the program stages involves launching the new line for finishing operations to produce railway wheels for modern passenger and high-speed rail. The new capacity enables the company to manufacture complex products, requiring additional high-precision operations as drilling, boring, and also painting.
