The construction of the Bogor-Sukabumi double-track railway will begin this year. The necessary budget was estimated at approx. IDR 400 billion (USD 28 million), according to President Joko Widodo.
Given the amount of benefits for the acceleration of mobility of people and goods, the project will be continued up to Cianjur and Bandung, and a feasibility survey has been requested, President Joko Widodo added. The project will start next year and finish in 2019.
A train route from Bogor to Bandung has existed since the Dutch colonial era. The Sukabumi train station began operation in 1882. The Sukabumi-Cianjur-Bandung segments, however, have long been deactivated. The Bogor-Sukabumi route, meanwhile, was reactivated in 2013 and has managed to attract passengers.
