Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) awarded a consortium formed by Larsen and Toubro Ltd and Sojitz Corp., Japan, a ₹3799 Crores (USD 569 million) contract. This includes the construction of civil works, tracks works, overhead electrification, traction substations and signaling & telecommunication works for double line electrified tracks for the 128 km line linking Rewari and Dadri, on the northern end of Western Corridor.
This section will be designed for 25 MT axle load track, 2×25 kV traction power system with high rise overhead equipment (OHE) and intermediate block signaling suitable for double stack containers dedicated for freight transport. The scope of work includes construction of 315 km of tracks, 29 major and 240 minor bridges, a long tunnel, 2 traction sub stations (TSS), 321 track km of overhead equipment (OHE), SCADA works and intermediate block signaling (IBS) at 5 stations along with supply of all associated equipment.
The works will be carried out between Rewari and Dadri through the regions of Rewari-Alwar-Mewat-Gurgaon-Palwal-Faridabad-GB Nagar in the states of Haryana, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh. This whole section of 128 km is in a detour and a green field project. With this win, L&T shall be constructing 1042 km out of the total 1464 km of track in the Western Corridor. In addition, L&T will be electrifying the entire Western Corridor from Dadri to JNPT covering 1464 km with over 3,330 track km of high rise electrification.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor covers a distance of 1504 km of double line electric track with an entirely new alignment from Rewari to Dadri.
